International Childcare Hardship Fund

A portion of the International Hardship Fund, which has been set up with funds donated by alumni and friends of the University, is set aside to support international students with childcare costs each year.

Who is eligible?

Students must fulfil the following criteria:

  • a current, registered student with the University of Bristol;
  • classed as an EU or international student;
  • classed as an EU or international student;
  • have started their programme of study with enough funds to cover tuition fees and living costs;

What is it?

  • Once all applications have been received and the deadline has passes, the very limited funds will be shared amongst applicants dependant on need. There is no guarantee of an award. You will be informed of the outcome of your application by the end of January.
  • Applications will be considered on an individual basis by a panel of staff. Childcare payments will not normally be paid if a partner is available to provide childcare.
  • You will receive a notification letter explaining the outcome of your application.

How do I apply?

  • You will need to complete and return an application form to the Student Funding Office, together with photocopies of relevant documentation. Application forms are available from the Student Funding Office in Senate House.
  • If you live with a partner, you will also need to provide your partner’s financial details. Incomplete applications will delay the assessment of an application.
  • You will be required to provide written evidence of your childcare costs from the childcare provider(s) for the duration of the academic year.

Renewal information

You are only able to make one application to the fund in each academic year.
Details will be updated on this page annually.

When is the deadline?

Applications for 2018/19 academic year have now closed.

The fund will reopen in 2019/20. This page will be updated when application dates for 2019/20 are confirmed.
