Conference Travel Fund

A grant to assist students with costs when presenting research at a conference away from Bristol.

The Conference Travel Fund can provide successful applicants with up to £300 towards their travel costs.

The fund is provided by the Alumni Grant. The grant was set up in 1982 by staff and alumni who wanted to help current students have a rich and rewarding university experience. It is funded by donations from thousands of alumni and friends of the University.

Eligibility

You can only apply for the fund if you are a fully-registered University of Bristol student. This must be both at the time of your application and at the time of the conference.

You should first have used all other funding sources before applying, such as:

  • a scholarship
  • a studentship
  • a research group fund.

The fund is available to:

  • undergraduates
  • postgraduate taught/research
  • home and EU/international fee-paying students.

The fund does not cover:

  • electives
  • Raleigh International projects
  • research costs
  • internships
  • travel to undertake research.

You cannot apply if you are a:

  • pre-sessional student
  • visiting student
  • exchange student.

You must be presenting your research at a conference outside of Bristol.

You are eligible to receive funding to a total value of £300 during your study programme. We can give awards as either a single grant or as several smaller grants.

We cannot give awards after travel has occurred.

How to apply

  1. Provide your bank details in your financial statement.

  2. Prepare clear evidence that shows your conference submission has been accepted.

  3. Complete the application form. You must log in with your University email.
