Booking information including terms and conditions

In 2021 we introduced a new course booking system, with simplified bookings and payments, and the facility to self-manage your account. The booking process is outlined below, alongside updated booking terms and conditions.

Booking application process

We update our website with a list of our current short courses at the start of each academic year. We aim to open bookings and confirm the courses we are running by early autumn. Courses in the 2021/22 academic year have not yet been confirmed.

To apply for a place, you will first be asked to register with our online booking system and then course booking will open shortly after that, although registration will be available throughout the year. Please note that bookings are all subject to availability and checks of your fee eligibility. We operate on a strict first come first served basis. Once registered, you will be able to manage your bookings through the system.

Our courses are extremely popular, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

Subject to availability, we offer a limited number of free and discounted places for eligible applicants. Further information can be found on our course fees page. All affiliations are checked to confirm eligibility and the best discount will be selected based on the information you provide. Full price places will be offered if applicants are not eligible for free or discounted places, have used up their allowance or the free space limit on courses has been reached.

When a course is full, applicants are invited to join a waiting list. The waiting list will only open once all places, full price or discounted, have been taken on any given course. If a place becomes available on a course, applicants will be contacted in the order they joined the list. Depending on availability discounted places may no longer be available. Applicants are given 48 hours to respond by email before their waiting list place is cancelled and the next applicant is approached. We regret that we are unable to advise on the likelihood that places will become available, but recommend that applicants hold the time in their diary if they are keen to attend.

All bookings remain provisional until payment is received. We require prompt payment, in line with the full booking terms and conditions outlined below. Our short courses are popular and often have a waiting list. Therefore, if we have not received payment in line with the timescales specified in our terms and conditions, provisional places are automatically cancelled.

Approximately one week before the course start date all successful applicants with confirmed bookings will receive joining instructions via email.

We encourage all delegates to complete anonymous online course feedback to help us to continually improve our courses.

Subject to full attendance delegates will be provided with an electronic course certificate. We are unable to provide any further CPD accreditation.

Booking terms & conditions

The full booking terms and conditions for the Bristol Medical School Short Course programme are detailed below. These are reviewed and updated each academic year, taking into account updates in programme and procedure. We recommend a thorough review in advance of booking a course.

Short Course Bookings

Bookings for forthcoming short courses will open on 18th October 2021. Join our mailing list for updates.

Prompt payment is required to secure a confirmed place on a course

If payment is not received by the due date given in your booking confirmation email, places are automatically cancelled.

Payment due dates are calculated according to the timescales outlined in our booking terms and conditions:

Applicants must pay their course fees:

  • within one month of the booking date where the booking is more than two months in advance of the course, or
  • at least one month in advance of the course start date where the booking is two months or less in advance of the course, or
  • immediately where the booking is one month or less in advance of the course.

In each individual order, the course earliest in the academic year will be used to calculate the course fee payment deadline.

We may need to make responsive changes to our courses at short notice in order to follow the latest Public Health, Government and University guidance.
