Student: Xueqing

While studying on the International Foundation Programme, student Xueqing Zhang spoke to us about her experiences.

What do you think of Bristol?

I knew the city before I got here, because I’ve seen a lot of British TV and movies. One of my favourite programmes was shot in Bristol, so I told my mum I wanted to come here.

When I arrived, it was just what I expected. People are friendly and the city is really beautiful and green. I’m totally in love with this city. I have a lot of friends here.

Where are your favourite places to go?

My favourite places are the suspension bridge, Brandon Hill park, and Cabot Circus, because I can shop.

How do you find the course?

The teachers are really patient and nice, and so are the students. Whenever you have any questions you can just ask a teacher and they’ll tell you what to do.

What’s it like being an international student?

It’s really cool on the International Foundation Programme, because all of us are international. We’re basically the same, just from different countries.

You can choose to talk to people from your own country, from Britain, or from different countries. You can talk about the differences in culture and lifestyle.

Do you have any advice for new students?

Finish your homework on time and do what the teacher asks. You might not understand why they’re asking, but the teacher knows exactly what they’re doing.

Make lots of friends, because you never know – they might be friends for the rest of your life.
