Entry requirements

Academic requirements for mainland China

QualificationGrade
Senior Secondary School Certificate

Senior Middle 3 with a minimum grade average of 80% with 80% in required subjects
Senior Middle 2 with a minimum grade average of 85% with 85% in required subjects

International Baccalaureate

A minimum of 26 points, with a minimum of 4 in any required subject
GCSE grade B or equivalent in required subjects

A Levels

A minimum 2 passes at C, GCSE grade B or equivalent in required subjects

Some undergraduate degrees will need higher grades than required for the IFPSome degrees also require a minimum GCSE or equivalent grade in a specific subject.

Pathway requirements

The type of English Language test you will need for the academic year 2020/21 will depend on whether you are coming to the UK to study on campus or accessing your study online in your home country.

If you are studying on campus and travelling to the UK

Accepted SELTs include:

  • IELTS Academic for UKVI from authorised test centres only
  • Pearson PTE Academic UKVI
  • LanguageCert ESOL SELT
  • Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE)

Veterinary Science IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in writing and 5.0 in each part of the test Mathematics and Science
Medicine and Dentistry IELTS 7.0 overall, minimum 6.5 in any band  Chemistry and any other scientific subject (Biology, Physics, Mathematics)
You will need to provide a valid Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate with scores that meet our entry requirements

If you are studying online in your home country

If you are starting your course online through digital learning and have been affected by test centre closures you can meet the English language requirement through one of the below tests. When you travel to the UK to continue the International Foundation Programme on campus you will need to provide one of the above SELTs.

Do I need to be over 18?
