About the Faculty of Health Sciences
We are committed to providing the highest standards of teaching in an excellent research environment.
We have world-leading researchers, dedicated teachers and clinicians, and talented students. Our facilities include a new £5 million Translational Biomedical Research on the Veterinary School site.
The faculty comprises three schools: Bristol Dental School, Bristol Medical School and Bristol Veterinary School. The breadth of programmes we offer, together with success in recruiting an international cohort of students, ensures a dynamic experience for all those who choose to come to the University of Bristol.
Our postgraduate programmes are designed to expose our students to a research-intensive environment, with learning, knowledge and skills at the cutting edge of their chosen area of study. We publish our work in the highest-ranking journals and strongly support patient and public involvement in research as well as other public engagement activities.
Our work is funded by grants from many sources including all research councils and major research charities. Most recently we have been awarded a Biomedical Research Centre (£21 million) from the National Institute for Health Research and a Wellcome Trust Clinical Academic Training programme for doctors, dentists and veterinary clinicians.
Strengths of the faculty
We have excellent working relationships with our clinical partners in Bristol and its neighbouring towns and cities. This ensures that our research has high impact through translation into patient care.
