Social prescribing

Social prescribing can help you tackle loneliness, help you if you are struggling with anxiety or depression, or help you access more green and blue spaces in the area.

At Student Health, we have a social prescriber called Siobhan Buck.

Siobhan can discuss activities you might enjoy, that will help your mental health or even allow you to participate in community projects. These might be activities within the University but also outside. Some examples are:

  • campfire sessions with The Birch Collective
  • cold water swimming opportunities including introductory sessions to build confidence and women-only groups
  • gardening groups
  • chronic pain and anxiety workshops
  • support for bereavement

Ask your doctor (GP) about social prescribing, and we can refer you to Siobhan.
