Opportunities for Partners
Join us as a partner, and work with a talented student who can deliver high quality research of benefit to your organisation. Develop links with leading academics. Raise your profile to a cohort of talented potential employees.
The Cabot Institute Master's by Research in Global Environmental Challenges will train a new generation of exceptional leaders – ready to make an impact in the sustainability and environment sector or continue on to a PhD.
Graduates will be uniquely equipped with independent research skills and deep subject knowledge as a result of their year-long research project, combined with training in interdisciplinarity, collaboration, innovation, communication, and enterprise.
Partners can engage with the programme in the following ways:
Propose a project or challenge area in collaboration with a Cabot academic
Attract an outstanding research student for a year-long research project and develop new high-quality research for your organisation. By jointly supervising the project, you will have an opportunity to develop a working relationship with a university academic alongside working with a talented student.
Provide a development opportunity for your employees
You may have a member of your team who is interested in research, or who already conducts research as part of their role and is looking to advance their skills. The Cabot Master's could be an exciting opportunity to gain a qualification or develop their research ideas in a high-quality research environment on a full or part-time basis. As a Cabot alumnus, both they and you will also have an ongoing point of connection to a renowned research institute.
Offer a work placement
Provide high quality work or voluntary experience placements for students on a short term basis, or host the student during a second year of study (a 1+1 arrangement). Work with a talented individual who can bring new perspectives and skills to your organisation, and engage prospective future employees.
Become a mentor
Motivated to support future leaders in global environmental challenges? We are keen to work with people able to provide advice and insight from their field to help guide students in their careers and wider development. We expect the commitment would be 4-5 hours per year (a one-hour meeting with the programme team, plus one session every 3-4 months with the student).
Deliver a talk as part of a seminar series
Raise the profile of your organisation amongst talented potential employees and contribute to the development of the cohort. We are particularly interested in individuals who could inspire students to consider careers in a range of sectors, understand what it takes to create change in the environment sector, offer leadership insight, raise awareness of local initiatives that students may become involved in, or inspire students to take action.
Raise your profile by becoming an affiliate of the programme
By engaging with this programme, you will become either a ‘research project affiliate’ or ‘training programme affiliate’ of our leading programme and Institute. Unless you request otherwise, we will promote your affiliation via web, newsletter and social media through the inclusion of your company logo on relevant marketing materials.
