Game Changers
Game Changers is the University of Bristol’s sports volunteering, leadership and skill development programme. The programme utilises sport and physical activity to support students in developing personal and professional skills.
What is Game Changers?
Whether you are a student looking to volunteer at a sporting event or seeking to become a coach or sport official, Game Changers is for you.
Sign up either by selecting to take part in community volunteering or through our coach and officials support fund.
Not sure what to get involved with? Book a drop-in session with the team, and we can talk it through. Whatever you choose, all we ask is that you commit to a minimum of 10 volunteering hours in your chosen area or across multiple events.
How to get involved
- Sign up via the Careers Service by selecting the Game Changers pathway.
- Select how you are going to take part:
- Enter your secured volunteering opportunity.
- Enter your coaching or officiating course for approval.
- Complete your 10 hours of volunteering.
- Log your volunteering hours, and submit the necessary documents.
- Receive your certificate!

Bristol PLUS Award
The Bristol PLUS Award is the University of Bristol's employability award, designed to help you recognise, develop and articulate the skills gained alongside your degree.
Many activities completed through Game Changers, including volunteering, leadership and skills development opportunities, will also contribute towards the Award.
Complete Bristol PLUS to gain recognition for your achievements, develop your confidence and receive the Award on your degree transcript.
SU volunteering badges
Get recognition for volunteering from as little as 10 hours. Volunteering badges reward you for the time you’ve put into volunteering and developing your skills.
Any University of Bristol student can apply - just provide evidence of your efforts and a reference. Once approved, you can add your badge to your CV and LinkedIn profile. You can use this as an opportunity to establish your professional network and tag the organisations you’ve been supporting.
