CIRE members are engaged in a range of research programmes and projects in partnership with colleagues locally and around the world. Just some of the work we're doing includes:
- Transforming Education for Sustainable Futures (TESF)TESF supports collaborative research to develop understanding of how education systems can act as drivers of sustainable development in India, Rwanda, Somalia/Somaliland and South Africa.
- Education in Small States Research Group (ESSRG)A global network with 100+ members in small island developing states (SIDS), whose work focusses on issues relating to the study of education, sustainable development, climate change, cultural and epistemic diversity and local research capacity.
- Women Students in Nigerian Higher EducationA GCRF-funded project investigating women students’ experiences of higher education, specifically in relation to the wellbeing and support needs of student mothers.
- African Education Research Database (AERD)An online catalogue of education publications by researchers based in sub-Saharan Africa, funded by Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA).
- Connecting through culture as we Age: Digital Innovation for Healthy AgeingThis three year UKRI Healthy Ageing Challenge funded project is exploring how and why we take part in arts and culture as we get older. We are interested in how participation in all forms of arts and culture, particularly those accessed digitally, can influence our wellbeing and feelings of social connection as we age.
- Race, Empire and Education CollectiveREE is an interdisciplinary research collective that supports critical discussions of race, racialisation and racism in education.
