Dr Jack Grenville

Dr Jack Grenville is a Clinical Fellow in Airways Disease in the Complex Airways team at Southmead Hospital and is completing his PhD in Translation Health Sciences within the Academic Respiratory Unit. He trained in Medicine at St. George’s Hospital Medical School in London before completing foundation training in Kent and South London, then moving to the South-West to complete his core medical training in Taunton and Bristol and the first two years of higher specialist training in respiratory and internal medicine in the Wales deanery. In addition to his medical degree, he holds an MSc Epidemiology from the University of Bristol and BSc (Hons) Geography from the University of Manchester, as well as Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

His research involves applying techniques from molecular epidemiology such as Mendelian Randomisation to data from longitudinal cohorts, including the world-renowned Bristol-based birth cohort the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, to investigate the causes of low lung function trajectory and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, with a specific focus on the role of accelerated biological ageing.
