All our programmes are available for a single semester or a full academic year. Our schools of Chemistry and Law only offer year-long classes.
Who can apply
If you are applying to Bristol as an exchange student, you will be nominated to a programme by your home university. You can check with your home university or the Centre for Study Abroad Inbound team at Bristol to find out which programme you have been nominated to.
Direct-enrol students (those whose home university is partnered with Bristol but not for exchange) and independent applicants (any student from any university that is not partnered with Bristol) can choose to join any of our programmes.
Study Abroad programmes
Study Abroad (General pathway)
This programme allows you to choose units from across the University to create a personalised academic programme.
Study Abroad (Subject pathway)
This programme allows you to continue to specialise in your core academic subject while at Bristol.
STABEL (Study Abroad with English Language)
For students who don't currently meet the English language requirements for the Study Abroad (General) or Study Abroad (Subject pathway) programmes. STABEL combines a pre-sessional English language course, taken over the summer, with one of the Study Abroad programmes.
