Sociodigital transformation and AI
The Faculty promotes interdisciplinary research on socially-responsible AI and digital technologies, including the ethics and regulation of emerging technologies, narratives about technology and futures, and the use of AI in science, decision making and public policy.
Our research blends social science, law, arts and humanities, and we work collaboratively with engineers and others to address the opportunities and challenges of new technologies.
The ESRC Centre for Sociodigital Futures (CenSoF) conducts groundbreaking interdisciplinary research examining how digital technologies and society co-evolve and shape the future. CenSoF researchers work closely with a wide range of commercial and public-sector partners, including BT and DEFRA.
The Faculty co-leads the Bristol Digital Futures Institute (BDFI) based at The Sheds within the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, and leads the Research Institute for Sociotechnical Cyber Security (RISCS), a unique research initiative integrating the human into organisational cyber security.
