Social justice and inequalities

Our research on social justice and inequalities tackles broad challenges, including socio-economic, health and environmental justice and the reduction of social harms. We address these challenges from multiple personal and global perspectives.

The Centre for Childhoods and Social Justice examines inequalities and justice through the lens of the child. It aims to understand how childhoods are shaped in multiple social, cultural and political contexts and ask what a fairer society for children might look like.

Migration Mobilities Bristol brings a unique interdisciplinary approach to thinking about mobility across the planet. With human migration as a starting point, the Centre’s research recognises the intrinsic links to wider geographic movement, such as of ideas, information, goods and disease.

Based in the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences, the award-winning Bristol University Press is at the forefront of academic social sciences publishing, with a focus on work with a social purpose in a global context and research with policy impact.

The Faculty has strengths in co-produced research and works closely with partners and local communities, as exemplified by our connections with the University of Bristol micro-campuses and Reparative Futures initiatives. And we lead the way in Social Venture spinouts – mission-led enterprises addressing societal challenges.
