What to bring and what is provided

Make sure you have everything you need for your new home in Bristol. Some items are provided in your room and communal area so you won't need to bring these with you.

What to bring

Bedroom and bathroom

  • bedding (duvet, duvet cover, pillows, pillowcases and sheets)
  • towels
  • toiletries
  • bath mat (for en suite accommodation)
  • laundry bag
  • clothes hangers
  • mains extension leads can be used, so long as the load on the extension is no more than 13 amps. Only one lead can be used per socket.

Bedding can be pre-ordered online up to 10 days before you arrive.

Marlborough House residents do not need to bring bedding and towels, as they are provided.

Kitchen (self-catered residences)

  • plates and bowls
  • mugs and glasses
  • cutlery
  • bottle/can opener
  • saucepans
  • frying pan.

For Marlborough House residents, you do not need to bring any kitchen equipment, as this is provided.

Kitchen (catered residences)

Catered blocks have basic pantry areas, so you should bring fewer items:

  • plates and bowls
  • mugs and glasses
  • cutlery
  • bottle/can opener.

Kitchen equipment can be pre-ordered online up to 10 days before you arrive.

Other things to bring

  • cleaning products, including washing-up liquid, sponges, cloths and tea towels
  • stationery
  • TV licence.

You could wait until arriving to buy general cleaning equipment or shared kitchen items. Then you could split the cost with your housemates and avoid having lots of the same item.
