Competitions, challenges and funding

The New Enterprise Competition

If you have a great idea for a new business, service, or product you could win funding and support to make it happen. Every year we award up to £30,000 to students and graduates - all generously sponsored by our industry partners.

The University of Bristol holds an annual enterprise competition which gives current students, staff and recent alumni three opportunities to apply to and pitch for start-up funding.

  • Start-up Ideas - funding of up to £500 to trial and test your ideas. Applications for the start-up ideas round are now open.
  • Start-up Development - funding of up to £1,000 to validate and prove your business concept. Applications for this stage will open early 2018.
  • Start-up Growth - funding of up to £10,000 to develop and grow your start-up into a full-scale operation. Applications for this round will open in spring term.

For full details of the awards and how to apply, please visit the dedicated New Enterprise Competition webpage.

Enterprise Challenges

Challenges are a great way to build your enterprise mindset and skills. Getting involved in enterprise challenges can lead to the development of a start-up, or be used as examples in interviews.

We will be putting on a number of challenges over the year, starting with our Object Challenge and 3DS – 3 Day Start-up in Exeter.

Check our our list of enterprise events for up to date information and ways to get involved.

Work in teams to develop ideas, develop skills, and develop your network.
