Sustainable Procurement
How we ensure sustainable and ethical purchasing across all University operations.
The Procurement team works with colleagues and suppliers to drive value and reduce risk across supply chains, while ensuring coherence with the Supply Chain & Circularity workstream of the University Climate Action Plan.
Investment policy
Our investment portfolio is public and we are transparent about our investment decisions. The Finance team publishes documents related to the University’s Endowment Investment Policy and investment portfolio quarterly. You can find the current reports on the Endowment Fund Management page. In 2018 the University of Bristol fully divested from fossil fuels investments.
Social value
Our Social Value Statement describes its approach and commitment to delivering Social Value as a Global Civic University, through working with suppliers and supply chains. For further information on the Social Value statement contact procurement-office@bristol.ac.uk.
CIPS Ethical Mark
The Procurement team has earned the CIPS Ethical mark and appears on its Ethical Register. The organisations listed on the CIPS Corporate Ethics Register have taken proactive steps, in the last 12 months, to safeguard against unethical conduct in procurement and supply management.
Sustainability Impact Assessments
To achieve our commitment to embedding sustainability we must consider potential sustainability impacts at an early stage of projects, policies and procurement decisions. Visit SharePoint for more information.
Fair Trade
We continue to uphold our Fairtrade status since June 2021, which demonstrates our achievements in making positive changes to support fair trade.
We have been working to meet the five goals set by the Fairtrade Foundation using a SMART Plan (PDF, 221kB) to achieve Fairtrade status. These include:
- Upholding our Fairtrade Policy 2024 (PDF, 172kB)
- Stocking and promoting Fairtrade goods across the University
- Using Fairtrade products at University and Students' Union meetings
- Maintaining a fair trade steering group.
