Study spaces available at Beacon House

There are two types of spaces available to book at Beacon HousePlease ensure that you book the appropriate space for the activity you are engaging in.  

Online learning spaces (First Floor Beacon House) 

This space is designated for those that need to engage with interactive online learning during Teaching Block 2such as participation in seminars and tutorials. It is an open plan space offering a mixture of individual study desk options. To support effective sharing of this space with others we strongly advise the use of headphones. This will help maintain your own privacy and reduce the level of distraction for others.

Face coverings must be worn at all times within this space. 

Study spaces on this floor are not suitable for silent study. Group study space is not available.

Remember you must book a space each time you need to use one.  You can book spaces up to two weeks ahead to help plan you study time. 

Silent study spaces (Ground Floor Beacon House) 

This floor provides silent individual study spaces with a range of desks and soft seating. You are not able to talk in this space; if you wish to interact with online learning you will need to book a space on the upper floorFace coverings must be worn at all times within this space.

Opening hours

Group study spaces

This study centre has a large flexible space where students can create small group areas of different sizes.

There are also small booths for collaborative study.

Book a group room

This study centre has three bookable rooms, which lend themselves to workshops, conferences and training activities. The rooms are available to book outside exam and assessment periods:

  • Meeting Rooms 1 and 2 seat up to 12 each. Meeting-style desk/chair arrangement. Portable AV screen. Access via stairs or platform lift.
  • Seminar Room seats up to 60. Flexible layout. Level access.

To book a room, email stating:

  • room preference
  • date/time required
  • number of people
  • name of organiser
  • whether you require portable AV screen for Meeting Room 1 or 2.

You will receive confirmation of the booking within five working days.

Subject to availability, you may be able to book a room on the day. Please enquire at the Beacon House reception desk.
