Criminology has been ranked 1st in the UK, while Social Policy has been ranked 3rd, reflecting the School’s continued excellence in teaching, research and student experience.
These results recognise the dedication and achievements of the School’s students, staff and wider community, whose contributions continue to shape a vibrant and intellectually challenging environment.
Reflecting on the ranking, Professor Gary Fooks, Professor of Criminology at the University of Bristol, said:
'Criminology at Bristol has always encouraged students to look beyond crime as the law defines it, towards the wider harms caused by states, corporations and social inequality. We are delighted to see Bristol’s strength in criminology recognised in this league table result.
Our students and colleagues are at the heart of our success. Together, they make Bristol a unique place where students develop the knowledge and critical thinking to understand and challenge harm, and prepare for careers in which they can make a difference.'
The rankings highlight the School’s commitment to delivering world-leading education and research that addresses some of society’s most pressing challenges. They also reinforce Bristol’s reputation as a leading destination for students seeking to make a positive impact through careers in policy, social change and public service.
The School congratulates all staff and students whose hard work has contributed to this achievement, and joins the wider University community in celebrating the University of Bristol being named South West University of the Year.
