The Centre for Academic Primary Care (CAPC) has launched a short new film introducing the work of the Centre.
CAPC is one of the leading primary care research centres in the UK, a member of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research. It is also part of Bristol Medical School, and involved in teaching the next generation of primary care clinicians.
Primary care is the first point of contact most people have with health care services. There were around 380 million GP appointments in the UK in the 12 months to June 2025, with allocated NHS funding in 2025/26 in England of just over £13 billion.
The new film explains what primary care is, the types of research we do, and our involvement in teaching across the undergraduate medical curriculum.
Our research focuses on appropriate and effective care, organisation and delivery of care and innovative research methodologies.
Patients and the public are at the heart of all we do, driving our aim to improve primary care for all.
The film was produced by local Bristol film-maker, Patch de Salis, with contributions from research and teaching colleagues, and patient and public involvement contributors.
