Changemakers

Changemakers explores how ordinary people can reimagine society and create change.

Bringing together two powerful stories, the exhibition examines the work of Welfare State International, the ground-breaking collective that took art beyond galleries and into everyday life, and the women of the Greenham Common peace camps, who formed a community built around anti-nuclear protest and collective action.

Drawing on material from the University of Bristol's Theatre Collection and Feminist Archive South in Special Collections, the exhibition traces the connections between creativity, activism and social change. Through original documents, posters, photographs, publications, film and ephemera, visitors can explore how individuals and communities have used culture, imagination and collective action to challenge the status quo.

Whether through large-scale public artworks, grassroots campaigning or everyday acts of resistance, these stories reveal the many ways people have worked together to shape a better future.
