Tuition fees

The tuition fee for the International Foundation Programme for Medicine for 2026/2027 is £28,000.

This fee does not include accommodation, meals or other living expenses. Find out about what living expenses you can expect to find.

Students who progress to the MB ChB undergraduate programme will be required to pay the standard international tuition fee, as published in our course finder. Some students may also pay an additional clinical placement fee.

There is no scholarship from the University of Bristol or the Medical School associated with the IFP for Medicine or MB ChB programme. Students are expected to finance their place on the IFP for Medicine and subsequent undergraduate MB ChB programme either privately or by way of an independent sponsor.

Deposit

To secure a place on the International Foundation Programme for Medicine, offer holders must make a deposit payment of £2000. To make this payment, you will need your applicant number, which can be found in your applicant portal, and the email address you supplied when making your application.

You can pay this deposit online using the university's student payments provider, Flywire.

Once you have paid this deposit, and your payment is recorded as delivered, please send a copy of your payment receipt to medicine-ifp@bristol.ac.uk and your record will be updated.

Refunds

The deposit is non-transferable and non-refundable. There are, however, some exceptions.

You may pay your deposit before meeting the conditions of your offer. If you then fail to meet the conditions and rejected from the course on academic grounds, you will receive a refund.

Other exceptions to the non-refundable rule can be found in our International Deposit Refund Policy.

For more information, or to request a refund please contact medicine-ifp@bristol.ac.uk.

Accommodation

Applying for University residences

The University has a wide range of residences for you to choose from, and our Accommodation Office will help you find a safe, friendly and affordable place to live.

We strongly recommend applying for University residences, especially if you are under-18, as you may find it difficult to find appropriate accommodation otherwise. If you apply by the deadline, you will be guaranteed a place in a university residence.

Visas

Student Visa Services can give you all the information and support you need when applying for a visa.
