While you are away
Going abroad can be the most rewarding experience of your time as a student. Enjoy your time abroad while being supported by the University of Bristol.
While you are abroad you will need to stay in touch with the University of Bristol. Contact us for help or advice to ensure that your time abroad runs as smoothly as possible and to enable you to get the most out of your experience abroad.
Your academic department
It's important to stay in regular contact with your Study Abroad Academic Director or your Language Director about what units or classes you are studying abroad. Let them know if you need to make any changes to your study plan. This is to check whether you meet your Bristol degree requirements and to earn the right number of academic credits for your time abroad.
Check your University of Bristol (UoB) email account regularly, as this is the address we use to contact you. Access your UoB email using your username and password to log in.
You will be enrolled onto our Global Opportunities blackboard organisation which contains essential advice, guidance, and information to help you before, during and after your placement(s) abroad.
While you are abroad, check Blackboard regularly for any announcements and answers to your frequently asked questions.
Download and access the SafeZone app while you are abroad. The app allows you to alert the University's Security Services via your mobile phone if you ever need urgent assistance, or if you want to let Security Officers know where you are. Read the SafeZone for travel pages for more information.
