Receive your funding payments via BACS

Help us to make swifter payments to you.

The Student Funding Office has been paying students via BACS since 2006. BACS is a secure, quick and efficient method which allows funding to be paid directly into students’ bank accounts.

In the most recent academic year, 2016/17, over 95% of funding payments were made via BACS. Despite this, there were over 700 cheques produced for students who did not enter their bank details in time to receive their payments.

Producing large numbers of cheques creates several problems not associated with BACS payments. These issues include:

  • Students have to collect the cheque from the Student Funding Office.
  • The cheque needs to taken to a branch to be paid into a bank.
  • The payment is delayed whilst it is going through the bank’s clearing process.
  • A disproportionately high number of cheques are lost.
  • The cost of administration is much higher.

We would therefore like to ask students to help us reduce the number of cheques that are produced by entering their bank details via the MyBristol portal. Please read the instructions: Entering Bank Details to receive payments by BACS (PDF, 266kB).
