How we can support you
Bristol is renowned for its outstanding academic environment. Whether you are a first year undergraduate student or PhD candidate, we will support you to reach your potential.
Academic support
Most taught students have a personal tutor to meet on a regular basis. Your tutor will support you with your studies and can direct you to a range of academic support. Postgraduate research students are supported by their supervisors. Find out more about what academic support services are available.
Language and academic development
Our Centre for English Language and Foundation Studies run courses to help with your academic language and literacy. They include:
- Pre-sessional courses, to prepare you for study at University, and
- courses while you are here to continue to develop your skills.
Living support
Settling in
Our staff are here to support you from the moment you accept an offer throughout your time at Bristol. Welcome Week is a great opportunity to make friends and settle into university life. Look at our information for new students.
A safe environment
We provide a fair and safe environment for studying and socialising. We have our own police officer, and our security service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Wellbeing and support services
Being at University can be exciting but there may be times when you struggle. It can be difficult being away from your home, family and friends. At Bristol, you are not on your own and there is always someone to talk to. We have a range of services to support your health and wellbeing while you are with us.
