Bristol has a long history of excellence in research in Econometrics. The Econometrics research group maintains this tradition by developing new statistical methods motivated by economic theory.

Our current research covers cutting-edge methods for the analysis of microeconomic data. We focus on developing new flexible techniques which can be used by applied researchers working in areas including policy impact analysis and industrial economics. The group hosts the annual Econometric Study Group meeting, which brings together the very best Econometrics researchers worldwide.

Our research covers the following areas:

  • Nonparametric econometric methods
  • Panel data econometrics
  • Causal inference, treatment effects and policy learning
  • Discrete choice models and structural industrial organisation
  • Computational economics.
