Staff cards
A Staff UCard is issued to all registered, salaried members of staff. The name used on your card will be your "known as" name plus your family name, as recorded in your personal details held by the University.
Collecting your UCard (new staff and Honorary Staff)
On or after your start date
1) Upload a photo for your UCard: see the Photo Upload panel to the left. You will need your University log in details to do so.
2) Wait 24 hours for the photo to appear on our system.
3) Collect your UCard from at Royal Fort Lodge. Please bring a photo ID on the day for your UCard collection.
Alternatively you can get photograph taken at Royal Fort Lodge, after you have started in your new post, and collect your UCard immediately.
When you collect your UCard you need to bring:
> Your UoB contract/letter of employment.
>Passport or Driver's Licence.
If you are at one of our satellite sites and wish to have your UCard sent to you, please contact Card-Services@Bristol.ac.uk who can advise accordingly.
Access rights
If you need access to buildings or department offices outside standard hours contact your local UCard administrator They can also help with general access control issues.
If you need access to a building(s) outside your division or faculty, your head of department should
1) Complete a request to extend building access form (Office document, 42kB)
2) Email this request to the relevant UCard Administrator(s) so they can approve access privileges.

Staff who are also registered students
A member of staff can only have one Staff UCard. If you are a member of staff who is also studying at the University, you should use your staff UCard to borrow library books, access buildings, get sports membership etc.
If you need a card to identify your student status for other purposes, you can get a 'registered student' UCard at Card Services. This card can only be used to identify the card holder as a student of the University.
Staff who have had the same Ucard for 10 years
Staff UCard are valid for 10 years. If you have had the same Staff UCard for close to 10 years, you must visit Royal Fort Lodge to collect a replacement. This ensures your UCard remains active for building access and other services. There is no charge to replace an expired Staff UCard.
Please note: If you have received a replacement UCard at any point (e.g. lost, damaged), the 10-year validity period restarts from the date the replacement was printed.
This 10-year validity does not apply to Honorary Staff UCards.
