Pre-sessional student accommodation

We offer University accommodation for students on the 10-week and 6-week pre-sessional academic English course, or the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).

Guaranteed accommodation

If you apply by the deadline, you will get an accommodation offer. The room would be for the duration of your pre-sessional course.

You would live in a flat with students of mixed genders.

You would get access to wellbeing support all day and night.

Our rooms are suitable for unaccompanied pre-sessional students.

How to apply

To apply, you must already have an unconditional offer of study and have paid your course deposit.

When to apply:

  • 10-week course: 24 March to 11 May 2026
  • 6-week course: 24 March to 8 June 2026.

How to apply:

  1. register on our Accommodation Portal
  2. log into the Accommodation Portal and select ‘apply for student accommodation’
  3. select 'apply here' on the pre-sessional application section.

When you apply, you should tell us your budget and accommodation needs, so we can try to offer a suitable room.

Room offers

We send room offers from:

  • 10-week course: 13 May 2026
  • 6-week course: 10 June 2026.

You can view and accept your room offer in the Accommodation Portal.

When accepting your offer, you must:

  • sign the tenancy agreement
  • pay for your tenancy in full.

Moving in

You can move into your room on:

  • 10-week course: 2 June 2026
  • 6-week course: 30 June 2026.

We will email you before you arrive, with information about planning your journey, arriving at your residence and collecting your room key.

You must complete the Accommodation Induction in the Accommodation Portal. This will help you prepare to live in your room.

The address and postcode is in your residence guide

You can pre-order kitchen equipment and bedding from Accommodation Supplies at Pattersons. The items can be delivered to your residence and stored for up to 10 days before you arrive.

After your pre-sessional course

You must move out of your pre-sessional room by 5 September 2026.

To live in University accommodation after your pre-sessional course, you must apply for undergraduate or postgraduate accommodation. Alternatively, you can find private accommodation.

This room will probably be different to your pre-sessional room.

There will be a gap of time between moving out of your pre-sessional room and moving into your term-time room. You will need to find alternative accommodation during this time.

Cancelling your accommodation

To cancel your room, email student-accommodation@bristol.ac.uk.

You will receive a full refund if:

  • you cancel within 7 days of paying
  • your tenancy has not started
  • and you have not moved into your room.

If you cancel your room after 7 days, you will not receive any refund.

You cannot move into another student’s room. This includes taking over another student’s tenancy or sub-letting a room. This would breach your tenancy conditions.
