Courses and programmes
Education is a major aspect of the Centre for Ethics in Medicine’s work, and we strive to provide an excellent learning and teaching environment for students of all levels of experience.
Our focus on research-led teaching allows us to draw on the strengths and expertise of our staff, and provide a learning experience that encourages, challenges and supports the next generation of bioethics leaders.
The teaching functions of the Centre include an extensive programme of medical ethics teaching across all five years of the MBChB in Medicine, including supervision of student-selected projects. The Centre also offers a one-year intercalated BSc (Hons) in Bioethics, which can be taken by students of Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Sciences. This was amongst the first of these courses offered in the UK and, since its inception in 1998, its graduates have themselves gone on to become experts in the field.
BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Ethics And Law (HEAL)
The Centre also offers teaching and supervision at postgraduate level, through MSc and PhD courses. Training and professional development courses are available, including training for members of ethics committees and bioethics research methodology.
