Course aims
The International Foundation Programme is designed to prepare you for undergraduate study in the UK. You will improve your subject knowledge through attendance at lectures and seminars in your chosen subject area in the University departments and schools. In addition, you will also study in the Centre for English Language and Foundation Studies. Here you will:
- Develop your knowledge and use of academic grammar and vocabulary
- Improve your general academic skills of taking notes from lectures
- Learn to deal with academic reading texts
- Improve your writing skills as you build an e-portfolio of academic writing tasks and essays throughout the year.
- Learn to participate confidently in academic discussions and seminars and to give successful presentations.
You will also receive extensive support in applying for undergraduate courses at the University of Bristol and other universities and will leave the programme fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence to succeed at a top British university. Completion of the International Foundation Programme does not guarantee progression on to a degree at the University of Bristol.
