Sector information

Most Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science graduates are employed in first opinion general practice, large veterinary hospitals, universities or specialist referral centres. They may also decide to take on a veterinary practice management role. Some decide to work in sales, marketing and management within the commercial sector which includes pet insurance, veterinary pharmaceutical and nutrition companies.

Employers and occupations

In 2019/20, 81.8% Veterinary Nursing graduates were working full-time in roles relating to veterinary science.

Further study

Graduates may choose to follow a career in academia via a BVSc, MSc or PhD, or to stay within education and become college tutors and lecturers. Alternatively they may choose to develop an interest in different aspects of animal health such as behaviour or alternative therapy.
