7 April 2021Scientists from the Universities of Bristol, Exeter, Leeds, UCL and the Met Office are hosting a three-day hackathon on 2–4 June, open to all UK researchers in the field, to produce cutting-edge research using Climate Model Intercomparison Project 6 (CMIP6) data.

COVID-19 one year on2 February 2021In early February 2020 the UK had confirmed a handful of COVID-19 cases, a month later the World Health Organisation (WHO) officially declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic, and on 23 March that year the UK went into its first lockdown. For over a decade, virologists at Bristol University - notably Dr Andrew Davidson and Dr David Matthews - had been studying coronaviruses and their virus/host interactions; Bristol University was well placed to hugely ramp up efforts to understand the virus and its effects.

Adapting youth services to provide essential support for vulnerable young people during the COVID-19 pandemic27 January 2021Youth organisations offer valuable support to young people who may struggle at school with their mental health or because of their life circumstances. Restrictions imposed through periods of lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic meant that youth organisations were unable to deliver their services to young people as usual.
