Bristol as a University of Sanctuary

Welcoming and supporting those seeking sanctuary within the University community.

Bristol is a City of Sanctuary – part of a charitable network that aims to build a culture of hospitality and inclusiveness for refugees and asylum seekers in cities across the UK. The University of Bristol is proud to have been a University of Sanctuary since 2016, a status which recognises the good practice of universities across the UK who welcome people seeking sanctuary into their communities.

As a University of Sanctuary, we are committed to learning about the experiences of people seeking sanctuary, and to embedding a culture of welcome and inclusion through our actions.
