Upcoming one-off events

As well as our regular events, we also host a number of annual and one-off events, from tours of different faith centres to services. All these events are run by the Chaplaincy team. Here is a list of our annual and one-off events that the Chaplaincy is running this term.

Christmas Carol Service 2024

Unfortunately, due to the new academic restructure this year, there is no capacity for a full Carol Service as we've carried out in the past.

However... On 12th December 2024 we'll be keeping the flame alight with a more grassroots, smaller scale event at the Multifaith Chaplaincy. See below for details!

A Chaplaincy Christmas - 'Rockin Around the MFC'

12th December 2024

All are welcome to join us for our day of winter festive celebrations Multifaith Chaplaincy style!

MFC Christmas event 2024

The event will take place throughout the day with lots of different activities to get involved in (outlined below). There will also be a delicious selection of freshly made sweet and savoury nibbles and spiced hot drinks. All food is vegetarian with vegan options.

This is a drop-in event so all university students and staff are welcome to come in and out. This event requires no booking and is free of charge.

There will be also a room for study as we understand it is still exam season.

11:00-13:00 - Christmas crafts
Make some festive decorations for your home or own chaplaincy tree! You can also make some festive cards for your friends and loved ones.

13:00-14:30 - Festive Biscotti Workshop
Join us to make some festive flavoured biscotti from start to to finish - led by one of our student cooks!

11:00-15:00 - Christmas Reflections (Quiet Room)
What gift do you need this winter season? This will take place in our Quiet Room throughout the day.

14:45-16:00 - Festive Folk Jam!
Some of our lovely student community from folk band will be playing some classic festive songs together for us to sing along to. Not to worry if you don't know the songs, join us in the spirit!

You're also welcome to bring your own instruments and play along with us!

(The title of this event is a play on the song 'Rockin around the Christmas tree', a very popular Christmas song every year in the UK - check it out!)

Faith Crawl

Our yearly Faith Crawl celebrates the diversity of culture and religion in our community. Each year on the crawl we visit and learn about three different faith spaces around Bristol. Some of the many venues we have visited over the years include the Shah Jahal Mosque; Sakya Buddhist Centre; Progressive Synagogue; Sikh Gudwara; Hindu Temple, Redland Quaker house and more. Join us for our upcoming Faith Crawl taking place every autumn!

13th November 2024

We've had our faith crawl for this academic year in the heart of Interfaith Week. It was a great success, with lots of enthusiasm for another one in the next year.

University of Bristol Carol Service

15th December 2023

The University of Bristol Christmas Carol Service took place at Wills Memorial Building in the Great Hall. +Last year we reflected on the theme of peace and goodwill. All students and staff were invited to join us for traditional Christmas readings, carols and poems; with music from Bristol University Singers and the University Symphonic Chorus. Freshly baked mince pies were also served as part of the service.
