Welcome to Subject Support! Discover the various ways we support students and staff in developing library and research skills.

The team

Our team of librarians are here to support you at all levels of study to become an independent, critical and informed researcher. Our team work in close partnership with Schools to develop and deliver embedded taught sessions covering subject specific library and research skills.

We also offer bookable workshops and 1:1 support which are open to everyone throughout the academic year.

Our teaching

We help build confidence in the effective use of Library resources. This includes developing search strategies, critical evaluation, referencing and using specialist databases and emerging AI search tools.  When incorporating AI search tools, we emphasise the importance of understanding the ethical implications, their limitations, and their appropriate use within academic work.

We encourage critical reflection, helping students to question evidence, recognise bias, consider diverse perspectives and make informed judgements in their academic work.

Our bookable workshops cover a wide range of topics and anyone can book 1:1 tutorials with us. Independent, online help is provided via self-guided tutorials and subject guides.
