We will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) affects one of the most traditional legal jobs – legal interpretation. You will first learn what legal interpretation is and what is so distinctive about it. Then we will unpack the ways in which interpretation has been addressed within different strands of AI and law research, from legal expert systems and argumentation to machine learning and generative AI.
