Support for parents

The University offers several initiatives and services for both parents, and expectant parents.

University support and resources

  • Induction checklist for returning parents
    A tool to support you in returning from maternity, adoption, or shared parental leave.
  • Coaching for new parents
    Individual coaching sessions for staff going to, or returning from, parental leave. Sessions can cover topics such as, career management, work-life balance, and building confidence.
  • Nursery provision
    There are two nurseries located on the University campus for children of University staff and students. For children aged between 3 months and 5 years.
  • Free swimming during pregnancy
    Unlimited swimming access and no prior membership is required. The University swimming pool has six lanes and a moveable bulkhead, alongside a comfortable teaching pool for lessons.

Through The White Flamingo, Katie aims to normalise and celebrate the diverse experiences of becoming a parent, including the biological and psychological changes that occur.
