Before the Christmas break, we communicated about upcoming changes to our redeployment process in January 2024.

These changes are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 31st January.

The changes are to improve the:

The planned changes are informed by the feedback we've received from individuals who have been through the redeployment process.

We can now provide more detail about what the changes mean for those who enter the redeployment pool and for recruiting managers.

Changes in the redeployment process for staff at risk

At-risk employees will access vacancies through a redeployment job board. Access to this job board will be restricted to employees in the redeployment pool and involves setting up job alerts for vacancies relevant to their skills, experience, and grade. When a new vacancy is posted, at-risk employees will be notified by email and can decide on whether to apply. All roles will be advertised for five days. This will replace the current matching process, which is more restrictive to the visibility of vacancies and a poor employee experience.

Full details on the redeployment process can be found in our redeployment guidance.

Information for recruiting managers.

All roles will be advertised on the redeployment pool job board for five days, and this time will need to be built into recruitment timelines. This supports our statutory obligation to seek to redeploy wherever possible. Our recent changes allowing internal and external advertising concurrently means there is no significant impact on the hiring timeline.

In a small number of cases, there may be reason to operate outside of this five-day window. These cases would need to meet one or more of the following conditions:

Instances of the above should be first raised with your HR Business Partner.

Employees in the redeployment pool as of Wednesday 31st of January

We will soon be communicating individually to all employees identified as in the redeployment pool at the time of the changes. This communication will set out what to expect, and what accompanying support will be provided.
