Fees and funding

Course fees

Undergraduate fees for internal applicants already on a professional programme at the University of Bristol

If you are an existing University of Bristol student intercalating onto a different undergraduate course within the University, you will be treated as a continuing student and pay the appropriate fee for the programme onto which you are intercalating.

For full fee information, please see these pages: Undergraduate tuition fees | Current students | University of Bristol

Undergraduate fees for external applicants registered on a professional programme elsewhere

If you are an incoming external intercalating student, you will be charged the same fee as a new student to the University.

For all BSc courses, please see the course page for fee information: Undergraduate study | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol

Fees for Masters' level courses for both internal and external applicants

If you are a University of Bristol student intercalating onto a postgraduate (Masters) course within the University, you will be treated as a new student whilst on the postgraduate course. You will resume your continuing student status on your return to the undergraduate course.

Full details on postgraduate course fees are available here: Fees and funding | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol

Please note that some programmes charge an additional bench fee on top of the tuition fee. If the programme charges a bench fee, it will be listed on that programme's entry and on your offer letter.

Funding opportunities

Funding for intercalation varies depending on where you live. Our Student Funding Office can provide you with up-to-date information about the financial support that is available.

NHS bursary

Medical and dental undergraduates seeking further information on the NHS bursary should visit the NHS website. It is important to note that the NHS bursary will apply from your 5th year of study, and that the total funding available for NHS-funded years is less than that available in earlier years.

Bursaries and awards

Several other bursaries and awards are available to students to assist you during your intercalation year, for example:
