STABEL (Study Abroad with English Language)
If you do not meet the English language requirements for the Study Abroad programme, or you want to improve your academic English, you may be eligible to apply for our STABEL programme.
STABEL combines Study Abroad with a pre-sessional English language course. These intensive English language courses take place over the summer and are only available to students starting in September. You will study for six or ten weeks before you start the Study Abroad Standard programme, depending on your current English language level. To check your eligibility, please refer to our English language requirements.
Find out more about our pre-sessional courses from the Centre for Academic Language and Development. The STABEL programme has an earlier application deadline than the Study Abroad Standard programme because the pre-sessional courses usually start in June or July. Students will need an Academic IELTS for UKVI from an authorised test centre, also known as a SELT, in order to apply.
Please note that you must pass the pre-sessional programme in order to progress to the Study Abroad Standard programme and your offer for the Standard programme will be conditional until you have passed the pre-sessional course.
Students taking the STABEL programme will be supported by both the Global Opportunities team, who run the Study Abroad programmes, and the University's Centre for Academic Language and Development. If you have any questions about STABEL, please contact us.
