Project title:

Qualitative exploration of pelvic floor disorders and to identify most effective pelvic floor exercise modality that improves symptoms and adherence

Supervisors:

Dr Jon Bird, Department of Computer Science; Prof. Rachael Gooberman-Hill, Bristol Medical School

General profile:

My background lies in Primary Care. I undertook my MBChB in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Liverpool, gaining Honours, followed by a MPhil in Child Health at the University of Liverpool. I trained in London as a doctor and was a NIHR-sponsored Academic Clinical Fellow to become a fully qualified General Practitioner.

During my years as an Academic Clinical Fellow, I worked on projects surrounding asthma and digital interventions as well as looking into the effects of air pollution. I am an author in a Cochrane review examining digital interventions to improve medication adherence in asthma. Partaking in this review led us to undertake further research in medication adherence in young people and using smart inhalers. This study has recently been accepted by the BMJ and is due to be published.

I have a keen interest in mixed methodologies and improving health in primary care and am excited by the prospect that digital interventions can have as an adjunct to traditional therapies.
