Mental health in pregnancy across generations
ALSPAC’s multigenerational design enabled researchers to compare prenatal depressive symptoms across two generations of pregnant women. The study found higher levels of symptoms in the younger generation. Related ALSPAC research has examined associations between parental depression and children’s outcomes. These findings provide evidence relevant to recognising and supporting perinatal mental health needs.
We consider this an important contribution to academic research.
