Liver disease in young adults
ALSPAC research identified fatty liver in around one in five young adults and liver scarring in around one in 40 at age 24, revealing a burden of disease at an early age. The research contributed to work on earlier detection, including the Bristol community outreach initiative Alright My Liver. This provides an example of a route from cohort research to local service innovation.
We consider this an important contribution toward public discussions and academic research.
