Internet use, self-harm and suicidal behaviour

ALSPAC provided some of the first prospective evidence showing that young people's online experiences are linked to later self-harm and suicidal behaviour. The findings informed evidence considered by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Suicide, the APPG on Social Media and Young People's Mental Health, and the House of Commons Health Committee's work on suicide prevention.

We consider this an important contribution toward public discussions and academic research.
