ALSPAC helped identify genetic variants that influence obesity risk, transforming understanding of the biological causes of obesity and healthy growth. The findings have underpinned obesity research worldwide and improved understanding of why some people are more susceptible to obesity than others, supporting the development of more effective approaches to prevention and treatment.
