All undergraduate students in hall are members of the Junior Common Room (JCR). The JCR is led by a committee of students who organise all the events in hall and they work hard to plan a busy calendar of events throughout the year.
Plans for Welcome Week include a pirate party, laser quest, bowling, an 80's disco, a film night and much more, and the Wills Hall Freshers Fair brings together sports teams, singers, musicians, actors and tech experts ready for a busy year ahead.
Regular events include a James Bond Party in the Autumn term and WHATS (Wills Hall Amateur Theatrical Society) will tread the boards with a hall production. The Wills Hall Choir sing at the end of year Carol Service and the Christmas Formal ends the first term with a traditional, rousing rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Refreshers Week welcomes students back for the Spring term and the JCR will host the Spring Party. There'll be themed Formals aplenty this term to celebrate Chinese New Year, Burns Night and Valentine's Day. WHATS will stage their second production of the year.
Things are a little calmer during the summer term as revision takes over, but there'll still be time to squeeze in the annual Lord Mayor's Formal, a summer picnic on the lawns and before you know it a new JCR Committee will be being elected ready for the intake of new residents. Of course the Summer Ball will round the year off in style.
Full details are in the JCR Handbook, which is sent to Wills residents in the middle of September.
Your JCR committee consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary already elected from last year's residents and returning to Hall for their second year. Various representatives for hall activities, such as sports, music, RAG, drama (WHATS) and hall ents make up the rest of the positions and these are elected to the committee in October from the new first year residents.
If you're interested in becoming a member, look out for further information around the hall during the first few weeks of term.
