The Book Room is the main study area in hall and is located at the back of N House. In here is a table and chairs to work at and a library from which students are welcome to borrow books. The hall is working to update the collection and has recently purchased a set of classic English and American literature.
Just down the corridor from the Book Room is the Quiet Lounge. This is a more informal study space with comfy chairs and sofas and small tables and there is WiFi in here. The JCR order the daily papers and these are kept on the shelves in here for students to read. The hall archives are also kept in here and provide a history of the hall from the 1940's in photos, newspaper cuttings and student comments. In the summer term the hall provides tables and chairs to make the Quiet Lounge another formal study room for exam revision.
The Old Court Lounge is next to the JCR and Bar and is another informal study room with more comfy chairs. This room also has WiFi. The Old Court Lounge is home to one of the three grand pianos in hall and students are welcome to use this room for practise. Click on the images below.
The hall has six tennis courts and four squash courts which are open for use by any student in Stoke Bishop and do not need to be booked. The codes for the facilities are available from reception. There is also a croquet lawn and in the summer, Wills students can borrow a croquet set from reception on presentation of their Wills Hall ID card.
Inside, the hall has a table tennis room which is next to the study room in Y block. There is also a billiard room which dates back to the early 1900s. Wills students are welcome to use these rooms and the door codes are available from reception. Click on the images below.
The hall is fortunate to have beautiful grounds which students are free to enjoy. There is a beautiful Quiet Garden and various other fields and lawns. Some of these are just for relaxing, some are suitable for ball games and students are permitted to have BBQs in certain parts of the grounds.
Inside, the main social area is the Junior Common Room (JCR), which is also home to the bar. The Junior Common Room is open throughout the day and the JCR Committee provide a free pool table for students. There is a large screen in the bar and terrestrial TV and big sports matches are sometimes shown in the evenings.
Friday evenings are a big social night in hall, with the Friday Formal dinner followed by music in the bar afterwards. The JCR Committee usually organise one other event per week. These include pub quizzes, open mic nights, karaoke, charity auctions/events for RAG, parties and lots more. If you would like to suggest or organise an event then speak to the JCR Committee.
