Current opportunities: Student members of the Board of Trustees

We are looking for two Student Trustees to join the University’s Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the University, and is responsible for setting its strategic direction. You can find out more about the Board of Trustees here.

Student Trustees should have excellent communication skills, independent judgement, creative thinking and a willingness to speak your mind and to listen to the views of others. Becoming a Student Trustee provides you with excellent experience of a leadership role and understanding of large and complex organisations – experience that employers value very highly.

Ideally, the new Student Trustees will have had a leadership role within the Students' Union, University or our local community, and should have a good understanding of the issues facing our diverse student body.

Student Trustees are expected to attend meetings of the Board of the Trustees, and other meetings as required.

Induction, training and support are all provided. Bristol SU will manage the application process, and shortlist candidates for further consideration by the Board itself.

Please note that only students who will be studying, or will be Sabbatical Officers, in 2017/18 can apply to be a Student Trustee.

The Board is keen to attract applications from students from a diverse range of backgrounds, and in particular would welcome applications from international students, PGR students and/or students from widening participation backgrounds. Further information about the University’s commitment to equality and diversity can be found at: http://www.bris.ac.uk/jobs/diversity.html

Please see the Student Trustees role description and person specification (PDF, 42kB) for further details. To apply to become a Student Trustee, please send a short (500 words max) summary of why you think you would make a good Student Trustee to bristolsu-representation@bristol.ac.uk by 9am on 10 April 2017.
