Think Big Undergraduate Scholarship: FAQs

Who can apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships and what courses are eligible?

You can apply for Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships if you:

  • are classed as an overseas student for fee purposes, regardless of which country you are from;
  • have applied to study any full-time undergraduate course (excluding medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses) at the University of Bristol, starting in 2021.

Do I need to have applied for a course at the University of Bristol before I apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships?

Yes, you need to have already applied to study at the University of Bristol starting in 2021 to apply to the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships.

You will need to include your UCAS ID, Student ID or Kaplan ID on the application form. Without a valid UCAS ID, Student ID or Kaplan ID your application will not be considered.

I am applying for more than one course at University of Bristol. How should I complete the Think Big Scholarship application form?

If you have applied to study more than one course at the University of Bristol, please only submit one scholarship application, choosing one of the programmes you have applied for. You can then email us at international-partnerships@bristol.ac.uk to let us know which other course(s) you have applied for.

What documents do I need to apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarship?

We do not require you to submit any documentation when applying for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships.

To submit an application for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships, you just need to complete the online international scholarships application form after you have submitted an application to study at the University of Bristol.

What is a UCAS ID, Student ID or Kaplan ID?

UCAS ID (UCAS Personal ID): This is the 10-digit number given to you in your welcome email when you registered with UCAS. If you cannot remember what your UCAS Personal ID is, you can search for it on the UCAS Track website.

Student ID: TIf you are a Global Transfer Programme student, you will receive a Student ID. This is the 7-digit number given to you in your welcome email when you applied to the Global Transfer Programme. If you are unsure of your Student ID, please contact your partnership coordinator.

Kaplan ID: If you are a Kaplan International College (KICL) student, you will need to use your Kaplan ID number. This is the ID starting with a letter followed by 6 numbers

Is there an age restriction for applying for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships?

No, there is no age restriction for students applying for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships.

Do I need to have an offer to study at the University of Bristol to be able to apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships?

No. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements and you have submitted an application to study at the University of Bristol, you can apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships, even if you have not yet received an offer.

Am I eligible for a Think Big Undergraduate scholarship if I select Bristol as my insurance choice in UCAS?

You do not need to decide your firm and insurance choices in UCAS at the point of submitting a Think Big scholarship application.

The round one deadline for international scholarship applications is 10 am (UK time) on 29 March 2021, and successful applicants will be informed by 26 April 2021. This date was chosen to be before the UCAS deadline to reply to your offers of 5 May 2021. This gives you time to consider the outcome of your scholarship application when deciding which universities you want to mark as your firm and insurance choices.

However, in order to accept an international scholarship from the University of Bristol, you will need to select Bristol as your firm choice. If you select Bristol as your insurance choice, your scholarship offer will be withdrawn.

I have applied for more than one University scholarship, can I still I apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships?

By completing the online international scholarships application form, you will automatically be considered for all University of Bristol scholarships that you are eligible for.

You can only accept one tuition fee scholarship from the University. However, you may still be eligible and are permitted to accept a scholarship or bursary towards your living costs, which can be awarded in addition to a tuition fee scholarship.

Do the Think Big Undergraduate scholarships cover living expenses, air fare, etc?

No, the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships are issued towards tuition fees only. These scholarships will not cover any living expenses, air fare, etc.

Under UKVI regulations, you will need to show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself while studying in the UK. Find out more about money required for Student visa applications.

Do I need to meet any English language requirements to be able to apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships?

No, you will not need to meet any English language requirements to apply for the Think Big Undergraduate Scholarships.

However, you will need to meet any conditions of the academic offer for your course to be successfully awarded a Think Big Undergraduate Scholarship. This may include English language requirements.

Will I recieve individual feedback on my application if I am unsuccessful?

No, unfortunately due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback to applicants who are unsuccessful.

Will a list of successful applicants be published on the University's website?

No. All applicants will be contacted by email. Successful applicants will be contacted by 26 April 2021. Unsuccessful applicants will be contacted shortly after this date.
