Find out if you can self-certify your absence from an exam or an assessment if you are unwell. You do not need to see a doctor or nurse to prove to the university that you were unwell.

If you need medical evidence for:

• an extension request, or
• exceptional circumstances,

We will keep records of the information provided in the forms you submit about your absence.
If you frequently self-certify absences, your school may ask you to provide a medical certificate.
Information will be recorded and processed in line with the Data Protection Act.
